This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required to operate and understand shipboard alarm and monitoring systems in accordance with STCW engineering competencies. Students learn the principles of machinery monitoring, alarm generation, safety shutdown functions, and the integration of sensors, indicators, and control panels. Training includes interpreting system readings, responding to alarms, performing routine checks, and identifying abnormal conditions. Emphasis is placed on maintaining machinery safety, preventing equipment damage, and ensuring timely and appropriate action during both normal and emergency operations.
