This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required for effective watchkeeping on the bridge in accordance with STCW and COLREGs. Training includes the interpretation of Collision Regulations through practical case studies, understanding national watchkeeping decrees, and applying watchkeeping guidelines issued by the ICS, the company, and the master. Students learn to follow the master’s standing orders, apply proper bridge routines, maintain an effective navigational watch, and cooperate with pilots during pilotage operations. The course also covers reporting responsibilities, VTS communication procedures, and practices that ensure the safe navigation and operational readiness of the vessel.
