This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required to operate, monitor, and maintain electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic systems used on board ships, in accordance with STCW engineering competencies. Students learn the principles of fluid power, the function of pumps, valves, actuators, sensors, and control units, and the integration of electrical and electronic components for automated operation. Training includes system diagrams, troubleshooting methods, safety precautions, and preventive maintenance practices. Emphasis is placed on ensuring safe, reliable system performance and supporting machinery operation and control in both normal and emergency conditions.
