This course outlines the legal duties, responsibilities, and operational guidelines for a Company Security Officer (CSO) under the international ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code). The CSO is the designated shore-based person responsible for ensuring that a company’s fleet is fully prepared for security threats, ranging from piracy and terrorism to cyberattacks and stowaways. The training teaches how to conduct ship security assessments, develop and maintain official Ship Security Plans (SSPs), and coordinate security drills and exercises. It also focuses heavily on communication, instructing the CSO on how to liaise effectively with Ship Security Officers (SSOs), port authorities, and government agencies to ensure total compliance and rapid response during a maritime security crisis.
