Medical Care 2 provides advanced training in onboard medical treatment following maritime medical standards and the ship’s medicine chest. Students learn applicable medical rules and recommendations, proper use of medical equipment, and procedures for medical consultation with shore-based professionals.
The course covers essential anatomy and physiology, including the respiratory, circulatory, nervous, abdominal, and skeletal systems, to support accurate assessment and treatment. Students study pharmacology, including medicine types, administration methods, risks, storage, and correct use of Pharmaca Fennica, as well as awareness of substance misuse.
