Ship Theory 2

€ 200

This advanced course deepens students’ understanding of ship design, construction, and the structural principles that influence a vessel’s performance, safety, and operational capabilities. Building on foundational ship theory, the module explores how different ship types are built, measured, and assessed in relation to their stability, strength, and seaworthiness.

Students will gain detailed knowledge of various ship types, their structural components, and the principal dimensions and measurements used to describe a vessel’s characteristics. Emphasis is placed on how vessel construction affects stability, buoyancy, trim, and overall seaworthiness in different operating conditions.

The course examines the constructional strength of the hull, including load-bearing elements, framing systems, materials used in shipbuilding, and how hull design contributes to the vessel’s structural integrity. Students are introduced to the shipbuilding process, from project initiation and planning to production, testing, and final delivery.
