This course focuses on developing the essential language skills required for effective radio communication and the accurate use of maritime vocabulary in both routine and emergency situations. Students will practice speaking, listening, and interpreting messages in accordance with maritime communication standards.
A key component of the course is exercises in radio communication, where learners use Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP) and basic GMDSS-style procedures to send, receive, and acknowledge messages clearly and correctly. Training includes simulated VHF exchanges related to navigation, ship handling, distress, urgency, and safety communications.
