This advanced course provides marine engineering students with the practical skills and operational competence required for managing an engine room at the officer level, in accordance with STCW Code Table A-III/2. Using full-mission and desktop engine room simulators, students gain hands-on experience in operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting propulsion and auxiliary systems under realistic shipboard conditions.
The course develops the student’s ability to start up, operate, monitor, and shut down both main propulsion systems and auxiliary machinery safely and efficiently. Learners practice operating within defined machinery limits and responding appropriately to abnormal or emergency conditions.
