Radiocommunications – GOC

This course prepares students for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) General Operator’s Certificate (GOC), the internationally recognized qualification required for operating radio and digital communication equipment on SOLAS-compliant vessels. The module provides both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in all aspects of maritime radiocommunications, distress procedures, and safety systems.

Students will gain a solid understanding of the structure and purpose of GMDSS, including its components, operational zones, and the internationally mandated equipment carried on board. Training covers the correct use of VHF, MF/HF, and INMARSAT equipment, as well as digital communication systems such as DSC (Digital Selective Calling), NAVTEX, EPIRBs, SARTs, and AIS.
