This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required to prepare propulsion control systems and auxiliary machinery for safe operation in accordance with STCW engineering competencies. Students learn start-up procedures, pre-operational checks, lubrication and cooling system readiness, alignment and integrity verification, and the correct sequencing of machinery preparation. Training includes monitoring system parameters, verifying control and safety devices, and ensuring that all supporting systems are operational. Emphasis is placed on maintaining machinery reliability, preventing equipment damage, and ensuring safe and efficient operation during all stages of vessel propulsion and auxiliary system use.
