This course provides the knowledge and understanding required to recognize the hazards associated with electrical power systems operating above 1,000 volts and to apply the necessary safety precautions in accordance with STCW and industry standards. Students learn the risks of electric shock, arc flash, arc blast, insulation failure, and equipment faults, along with safe working procedures, controlled access, isolation and earthing methods, and the correct use of personal protective equipment. Emphasis is placed on risk assessment, compliance with HV operating procedures, and maintaining the safety of personnel and equipment during operation, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage installations.
