Terrestrial Navigation C

€ 200

This course develops the student’s ability to apply intermediate terrestrial navigation techniques used in coastal and near-coastal waters. Emphasis is placed on understanding and correcting environmental effects, performing accurate navigational calculations, and maintaining proper bridge documentation.

Students learn to determine and apply leeway corrections, calculate drift caused by wind and current, and construct and evaluate drift angles to maintain an effective course over ground. The course also covers rhumb line calculations, including the average latitude method, enabling students to plot and navigate constant-bearing courses with precision.

Proper use of the ship’s log and completion of essential bridge documentation are integrated throughout the module, reinforcing good navigational practice and record-keeping standards.
