Terrestrial Navigation D

€ 200

This course introduces students to the use of ship simulators as a practical tool for developing navigational skills and applying theoretical knowledge in realistic operating conditions. Students learn to plan and execute safe voyages while accounting for environmental factors and vessel behavior.

The module begins with an introduction to the ship simulator, covering controls, instrumentation, bridge layout, and simulation modes. Students practice route planning, including waypoint selection, safety margins, and navigational considerations.

A key component of the course focuses on environmental effects such as leeway and drift. Students learn to calculate corrections for leeway, determine drift angles, and apply these adjustments to maintain an accurate course. Practical exercises reinforce the ability to predict and compensate for wind and current effects.
