This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required to safely perform coupling and uncoupling operations between switchboards and distribution panels in accordance with STCW electrical safety standards. Students learn system configuration, busbar arrangements, interlocking mechanisms, and the operational requirements for connecting and disconnecting power sections. Training includes isolation and earthing procedures, verification of load conditions, synchronization considerations when applicable, and precautions to prevent arcing, back-feeding, and equipment damage. Emphasis is placed on safe switching practices, maintaining continuity of power supply, and ensuring the protection of personnel and electrical systems during switching operations.
