Reporting Near Misses & Unsafe Working Acts

175,00

This course focuses on the proactive safety practices required to identify, document, and eliminate workplace hazards before they escalate into serious accidents or injuries. Participants will examine the psychological and operational barriers to reporting—such as complacency, fear of blame, or peer pressure—and learn how to foster a robust, “blame-free” safety culture onboard.

The training provides clear definitions and real-world examples distinguishing between a near miss (an unplanned event that had the potential to cause injury or damage but did not) and an unsafe act (behavior that violates established safety procedures). Deck and engine crews will learn how to conduct simple root-cause observations, complete accurate near-miss reports, and utilize safety meetings to share critical insights, effectively breaking the error chain and continuously improving the vessel’s safety management system.
