This course provides knowledge of the main ship types and their operational characteristics, together with the principles of safe cargo handling in accordance with STCW and relevant international regulations. Students learn the features and cargo systems of tankers, bulk carriers, container ships, Ro-Ro vessels, and specialized ships, as well as the procedures for loading, stowage, securing, monitoring, and discharging different cargoes. Emphasis is placed on safety precautions, cargo-care requirements, communication during cargo operations, and the prevention of damage to the ship, personnel, and the marine environment.
