This course provides fundamental knowledge of thermodynamics as applied to marine engineering. Training includes gas statics, the behavior of gases under varying conditions, and the application of gas laws. Students learn temperature scales, methods of temperature measurement, and the basic principles of heat theory, including heat transfer and thermal effects on materials and machinery. Emphasis is placed on understanding how thermal processes influence shipboard systems and safe operational practices.
