This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required to safely perform generator synchronization, load sharing, and changeover operations in accordance with STCW engineering competencies. Students learn the principles of voltage, frequency, and phase matching; manual and automatic synchronization procedures; and the operation of load-sharing systems for parallel-running generators. Training includes monitoring system stability, preventing overloads, ensuring smooth transfer of electrical power, and responding to abnormal conditions during generator changeover. Emphasis is placed on maintaining continuity of electrical supply, protecting equipment, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of the ship’s power generation plant.
