This course provides the knowledge and understanding required for the safe operation and monitoring of electric propulsion systems on board ships, in accordance with STCW engineering competencies. Students learn the principles of electric drive systems, propulsion motors, power electronics, converters, and associated control and protection equipment. Training includes system configuration, operational procedures, fault identification, and emergency response actions. Emphasis is placed on maintaining system reliability, ensuring safe operation, and complying with relevant standards and operational requirements for electrically driven propulsion plants.
