Students learn proper cargo placement with respect to longitudinal stresses, structural limitations, and vessel stability. Key topics also include loading and discharging procedures, crew and vessel safety, cargo lighting requirements, grain stability calculations, chemical-risk bulk cargoes, and the use of special cargo-handling equipment.
