This course provides the knowledge and understanding required to apply safety precautions and use safety-related technologies when working with marine electrical and mechanical systems, in accordance with STCW standards. Students learn hazard identification, safe isolation procedures, lockout/tagout practices, grounding and protective devices, and the correct use of personal protective equipment. Training also covers safety technologies such as monitoring systems, alarms, interlocks, and emergency shutdown arrangements. Emphasis is placed on preventing accidents, protecting personnel and equipment, and ensuring safe operation during all maintenance and engineering activities on board.
