This course covers the practical operation of Marine Radar and Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA) for safe navigation and collision avoidance. Participants will learn how to set up display controls, adjust for sea or rain clutter, and interpret radar imagery accurately under all visibility conditions. The training focuses on manual and automatic target tracking, analyzing CPA (Closest Point of Approach) and TCPA data, and executing timely maneuvers in heavy traffic according to COLREGs.
Core Focus: Eliminating radar misinterpretation and automation bias to maintain total situational awareness at sea.
