Maritime Cyber Security Fundamentals

175,00

This course addresses the rapidly evolving digital vulnerabilities of modern vessels, where the integration of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) exposes critical shipboard systems to malicious cyber threats. It trains officers, engineers, and shoreside managers how to identify and protect high-risk targets, such as global positioning systems (GPS), automatic identification systems (AIS), radar, electronic chart displays (ECDIS), and automated engine control networks.

The curriculum places a heavy emphasis on fundamental cyber hygiene, including managing password policies, securing crew Wi-Fi networks, and preventing malware infection via infected USB drives or phishing emails. Crucially, the training aligns with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) cyber risk management guidelines, teaching personnel how to detect a cyber breach, isolate affected networks to maintain manual control of the ship, and execute a comprehensive cyber incident recovery plan. Ultimately, it ensures that a crew can defend the vessel’s digital perimeter just as rigorously as its physical defenses, safeguarding both data integrity and maritime operational safety.
