This advanced course provides the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency required for maneuvering ships under complex and challenging conditions, in accordance with STCW competencies. Training includes advanced use of engines, rudders, and thrusters; operating in shallow waters; interaction effects; handling in confined areas; and maneuvering during berthing, unberthing, and anchoring operations. Students also learn tug assistance procedures, emergency maneuvering techniques, and the influence of wind, current, and sea conditions on ship behavior.
Emphasis is placed on effective bridge teamwork, situational awareness, and applying safe ship-handling practices during both routine and demanding operational scenarios.
