This course provides essential knowledge of the measures required to prevent pollution of the marine environment in accordance with STCW and MARPOL regulations. Students learn safe handling of oil, chemicals, sewage, and garbage; proper operation of pollution-prevention equipment; and adherence to discharge restrictions and record-keeping procedures. Emphasis is placed on environmental awareness, compliance with international conventions, and the seafarer’s responsibility to minimize the ship’s environmental impact.
