This course addresses the macro-level strategic planning, media communication, and multi-agency coordination required by shipping companies and shore-based management teams when a fleet vessel suffers a major catastrophe. It trains maritime executives, designated persons ashore (DPAs), and emergency response team (ERT) members how to seamlessly interface with shipboard officers, search and rescue centers, hull underwriters, and government environmental agencies during an active crisis. The curriculum heavily focuses on the legal, logistical, and public relations aspects of an incident—teaching participants how to manage severe stress, handle intense media scrutiny, release accurate public statements, and coordinate emergency salvage or oil spill response contracts. Ultimately, it ensures that a company’s shore-side headquarters can act as an ironclad support structure to stabilize the crisis, protect human life, and safeguard the company’s operational continuity and reputation.
