This course provides the knowledge and proficiency required to operate, monitor, and maintain shipboard electrical power distribution systems in accordance with STCW engineering competencies. Students learn the layout and function of distribution networks, main and emergency switchboards, protective devices, circuit breakers, and associated electrical equipment. Training includes safe switching procedures, fault identification, isolation practices, and routine inspection and maintenance. Emphasis is placed on ensuring system reliability, maintaining safety of personnel and equipment, and complying with operational and regulatory requirements for marine electrical installations.
