This course delivers crucial safety protocols and technical expertise required to manage high-energy mooring operations safely, which remains one of the most hazardous tasks on a ship’s deck. Participants will study the mechanical properties, safe working loads, and wear characteristics of modern synthetic, wire, and composite mooring ropes.
The training places a heavy emphasis on identifying snap-back zones, understanding the dangers of dynamic line tension, and properly executing winch operations. Deck teams will learn practical risk assessment techniques, correct line-handling maneuvers, and essential inspection routines to prevent catastrophic line failures, protect personnel from severe injury, and guarantee secure berthing in all weather and tidal conditions.
