Tidal Calculations

200,00

This course introduces students to the principles, methods, and practical applications of tidal calculations, an essential component of coastal navigation and marine operations. Students will learn how tides are formed, how they vary geographically, and how to accurately predict tidal heights and tidal streams for safe passage planning.

The module begins with the theory of tides, covering gravitational forces, the role of the moon and sun, tidal constituents, and the differences between semi-diurnal, diurnal, and mixed tides. Students will become familiar with the terminology used in tidal science, including high and low water, mean levels, and tidal ranges.
